When you first view my portfolio, I want you to feel a sense of calmness. I want you to feel welcome as a reader and also get the urge to explore even more. The overall theme of my portfolio is growth and movement. The cover photo is one that I had recently taken of the ocean. It is a moving picture which captures the idea that I just mentioned above. Life is moving, ideas are moving, everything is constantly moving and changing. The color schemes throughout my whole portfolio are light pastel colors that reflect the cover photo. The fonts are elegant and easy to read and the layout and navigation of my overall portfolio is also designed simplistically and elegantly.

The biggest connection between the pieces I have picked for my portfolio include vulnerability, creativity, and growth both as an individual and a writer. These connections are represented through the visuals I included in my pieces, the creative modes, and the words and meaning embedded within each piece.

Following the end of this class, and my college career, I hope that I am able to take this portfolio with me no matter where I go. I hope I am able to continuously add to it as I create memorable and important work that shows who I am as a professional. I hope I am able to show it to potential employers, clients, etc. and prove my capabilities to whoever may be viewing it. I see this portfolio being my side kick in the future. In terms of academic learning at DU, my portfolio has helped me collectively see the growth I have made in the past few years. This growth isn’t confined to writing, it is growth through so many other concentrations. The final piece we created for our portfolio, the revision, was a final representation of the potential I have as a student, a learner, and a future business professional.

Allison,

I like how you focused on the thematic connection between your pieces being about you as the writer, rather than just the concepts. Vulnerability and growth are great aspects to include in a writing portfolio!

Allison, I definitely get a calm vibe the second I open your portfolio. I like that you have a cohesive theme of vulnerability. The two parts go really well together.
